Festive fun in Brighton

If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of bigger cities this festive season, why not get out to the coast? Beautiful Brighton is the perfect place to spend some time over the holidays. Whether you want to spend the day or take a long weekend, there is something for everyone in this splendid seaside city.

Visit Santa

There are a lot of places you can go to meet the man himself, but one of our top picks is Drusillas Park. This incredible zoo based in Alfriston, 13 miles from Brighton, turns into something of a winter wonderland. It’s the ideal choice if you have little ones to entertain, and may be one of the only places you can meet huskies hanging out in their own husky ice cave. With plentiful food and drink on offer, there is enough Christmas magic to keep anyone enthralled.

A winter walk

While you can enjoy a brisk stroll at any time of year, there is something truly enchanting about getting out and about in colder weather. Devil’s Dyke and its surroundings provide a glorious walking experience, even when the colours of the countryside become more muted. Build up an appetite for all that festive food!

Explore the Lanes

If you want to get your Christmas shopping done in style, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Brighton’s famous retail area. With an eclectic selection of shops, cafes and restaurants, it is the perfect place to find something for everyone. You’ll be supporting independent sellers, too, while enjoying the decorated splendour all around you.

A Christmas hole in one

Are you looking for a Christmas activity that will work for a group of friends or you and your family? You won’t want to miss out on visiting Globalls! This miniature golf course based in Brighton Marina creates a gorgeous, glowing, UV-lit golf course. Festively themed, this 12-hole course is suitable for all abilities and is sure to entertain visitors of all ages.

It may be a few weeks until the big day, but we hope this gives you some inspiration for getting in the Christmas spirit!

We are a non-profit organisation, promoting the South Downs National Park and surrounding areas as the destination of choice for domestic and international visitors.
