Animal adventures

Do you and your family love all things animals!! I know we do, which is why I wanted to talk about some of the great places to visit in the South Downs to spend the day surrounded by magnificent creatures and wonderful wildlife!

Firstly, we have Staunton Farm Park, this is a great spot for a whole day out in the countryside with a chance to see all the family favourites; Pigs, Sheep, Chickens alongside Llamas and Alpacas. What’s great about this place is it isn’t just the farm there is also gardens, soft play, Walking and Cycling Trails. They also have a lovely café and plenty of picnic areas as well.

Another great place is Washbrooks farm it has so much to keep everyone entertained for a great day out including Tractor rides, Indoor play and so much space outside for a zip wire, jumping pillow, trampolines, climbing frames and ride on tractors. It of course has lots of animals including Shetland ponies, Donkeys and Highland cows just to name a few! They also have an animal barn for you to get a closer to the likes of rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks and Geese!! This lovely farm also has its own tearoom supplying hot and cold drinks and lunches, there is also plenty of space for picnics!!

Sitting slightly outside the South Downs but still within easy reach for a day out is Fishers Farm Park, it is a family run park with lots of different things including indoor soft play, rides, splash pad area, tractor and trailer rides there is also a toddler village outdoor play area, Wooden assault course and so much more! You will find the sheep and pigs doing the dinner dash at certain times of the day, farms show’s and animal encounters are also available alongside animal handling and pony rides! They also have a range of food outlets and picnic areas.

If you’d rather see some more exotic animals why not try Drusillas Park, they have focused on creating a great small zoo for both animals and visitors. Animals like red pandas, giant Anteaters, camels, monkeys, penguins and a huge selection more from birds to reptiles. Its not just a zoo you get at Drusillas Park but also an outdoor adventure park, Splash Pad, Indoor soft play, Mungos adventure maze and rides to keep your whole family excited and busy for the day!!

Then there is of course Marwell Zoo. Although slightly out we like to think of it as an honouree South Downs attraction. 100’s of animals including tigers, penguins and giraffe. They have daily talks and feeding shows, 5 adventure play areas, a train, lemur walk through and a tropical house. This is an amazing day out with some great reviews on trip advisor.

Hope that gives you some great ideas!!! I know it’s reminded me of a few places and will be slotting these into my family days out as soon as I can!!

Happy adventuring!!
