Are you bored of staying in the same old places? Do you want to stay somewhere with a bit more character? Somewhere a bit unusual?
Most of us will just search for a hotel or B&B and go for what we know. But in the South Downs we have some amazingly unique places to spend your evening after a day exploring the South Downs. Here’s just a few of the quirky spots you could stay.
Set in a 100 acre wooded area of a 450 acre estate, you could stay at Adhurst Yurts, the Yurts have wood-burning stoves for those chilly nights. Most have use of a shared outdoor safari Kitchen, although some do feature their own, one even has a free-standing tub. Find Adhurst Yurts in Petersfield, being both child and pet friendly you can enjoy the great outdoors as a whole family.
Fancy feeling a King or a Queen for the night, how about a real-life Castle?!
Try out Amberley Castle, a 900-year-old Castle with rooms available that have 4 poster beds and whirl pool baths. This is a full experience in itself with tennis courts, 18 hole putting green, croquet lawn and an elegant restaurant offering afternoon tea.
You could always try out Walk Wood Wagon, a beautiful wagon surrounded by bluebell woods. Part of the excitement is the Swedish outdoor bath that will be heated for you ready and camp kitchen attached ready for you to whip up a feast. This wagon is completely off grid so gives you a great opportunity to take a step back and fully recharge without distraction.
Now if there is a group of you traveling this could very well be the one for you, The Big Green Bus! It is a retro double decker bus situated in its own private spot of woodland! The bus can sleep up to 6 people. It even has a woodfired hot tub you can book as extra just to complete your unique stay in the countryside.
Last one now, how about the Whithywood Shepherd Hut? A perfect little hideaway it even has a hot shower and flushing toilet in the block just next door for those not ready to quite give up the real world just yet!
This is literally just a handful of the weird and wonderful spots around this gorgeous area for you to stay, if there are any amazing places you’ve found to stay that are a little ‘Quirky’ please drop us a message here at Visit South Downs so we can check it out, we love to find out about new little gems!
