The seaside is always a popular destination when you have kids, even when there isn’t any sand. Seaford has a stunning shingle beach that is a perfect day trip destination for the kids. Below we share some helpful information so that you can plan your day at the beach.
A path along the cliff top
After spending time on the shingle beach, you can go for a walk along the path at the top of the cliffs. This is a safe walk for kids, but do be aware that the ascent is rather steep. What you do get is fabulous views though that make it all worthwhile!
Many places to park
There are many places to park along the entire stretch of beach. You can park at the Salts Recreation Ground, where you will also find toilets, and the Buckle Car Park located near Martello Tower. The cricket club and Youth Centre also have parking spaces.
During the peak season when the beach is staffed by lifeguards you can take advantage of free identity bracelets. These are waterproof and all you have to do is write your name and mobile phone number on them so that you can be contacted in case of an emergency. They really do give you peace of mind.
Let the kids play in the park
After a morning on the beach the kids may want a change of scenery. The good news is that the play park within the ground of the Salts Recreation Centre is the perfect spot to allow the kids to run around and burn off steam. There are also toilets located here.
Stop for a bite to eat
There are two shacks located along the beach that sell cold and hot drinks plus snacks. These are perfect for kids. Alternatively, you could always make a packed lunch as there are many benches to sit on. The play park also has an indoor cafe.
